Google introduces search for bitcoin wallet balance

Users can now see their token balances, recent transactions, and the last time their wallets were updated in search results by simply entering their wallet addresses.

Besides Bitcoin, this new feature includes several other blockchains such as Arbitrum, Avalanche, Fantom, Optimism and Polygon.

Three Bitcoin address formats are also supported: P2PKH, P2SH and Bech32.

While this merger should increase the accessibility and transparency of blockchain, it has raised concerns about the privacy of personal information and centralized data collection.

This news follows Google's earlier cryptocurrency projects, such as enabling Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain search results and tracking Ethereum wallet balances.

Various partnerships and initiatives have also marked Google's engagement with the crypto sector. For example, the tech giant partnered with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to allow payments for cloud services using cryptocurrency.

The company also recently updated its policy to allow advertising for Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This comes shortly after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved several spot Bitcoin ETFs.
