After developing what would later become the world's largest blockchain network, Satoshi Nakamoto decided to include an event that occurred approximately every four years to set a certain inflation rate for the mining of new BTC.

So-called having, or halving, halves the reward that miners receive for their work on the network, which should theoretically mean an increase in the price of the underlying asset if demand remains the same or increases.

With the next BTC halving just around the corner, market analysts are sharing simple but potentially profitable strategies for those looking to speculate on Bitcoin's price movements in each cycle.

Historical data shows that Bitcoin's price actually moves higher for several months after each halving. It is unclear whether this is hype or whether people are actually buying more while mining rates have slowed. However, each new low is higher than the low of the previous cycle.

The strategy is formulated as follows:

1. Buy Bitcoins 500 days before the halving

2. Wait and do nothing

3. 500 days after the halving, sell bitcoins

According to their chart, the price of BTC bottomed approximately 500 days before each halving and peaked 500 days after the halving.

The last one occurred in May 2020, and 19 months later (or just over 500 days), Bitcoin soared to a new all-time high of $69,000.

Then came a massive bear market that pushed the major cryptocurrency sharply lower to around $15,000 in late November and December 2022. The fourth contraction is expected to occur within a few weeks, meaning it will end 16-17 months (approximately 500 days) after the bear market bottom.

Some predictions for this cycle suggest that BTC will reach $150,000 or perhaps even $200,000 in a year after the upcoming halving.

But remember that history is no guarantee of future price movements, so investors should do their own research before investing in any investment.
