The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has partnered with fintech startup Win Investments to tokenize player training rights. The innovative partnership, announced by AFA President Claudio “Chiki” Tapia, allows 28 Premier League teams to receive direct funding through the startup’s platform.

A central element of this agreement is the ability for clubs to tokenize and monetize their players’ training rights. Starting at 1,200 pesos, these tokens open up a new revenue stream for sports organizations and support the ongoing development of football talent.

Valentyn Yaremchuk, CEO of Win Investments, emphasized the significance of the deal, calling it revolutionary for the way national football clubs are financed and for expanding market access.

“The digitalization of these rights through a public offering not only raises funds for clubs, but also democratizes participation in the lucrative player transfer market,” Yaremchuk explained.

Tapia elaborated on the initiative, emphasizing its goal of modernizing financial practices in Argentine football and creating genuine financial resources through the tokenization process.

“This strategy allows anyone to invest in their favorite players and receive profits as these players succeed, thereby quickly channeling funds back to their original clubs,” Tapia said in a statement on social media.

The Win Investments approach involves digitally dividing and distributing FIFA’s “solidarity mechanism” using blockchain technology. Since its creation in 2001, the mechanism has allowed clubs to receive a percentage of the transfer fees for the players they have nurtured, continuing to receive it even after the players leave.

“The digitalization of these rights through the public offering of these tokens allows clubs to raise money while democratizing access to the player transfer business for everyone,” he added.

As we know, football is not just popular in Argentina, it is literally a religion. There are over 3,500 football clubs based in 228 regional leagues. Often, it is there that young talents, potential stars of national and international top-level football, are concentrated.
