During a recent appearance on Fox News, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse discussed the impact of Donald Trump winning the US presidential election.

He believes that the US crypto industry would benefit greatly from more “legitimate” governance.

Even though it has only been a week since Donald Trump was announced as the next US president, the impact on the digital asset industry is clear: the total market cap has grown by more than $800 billion to a new all-time high of over $3.2 trillion.

According to the Ripple CEO, this is because the US crypto industry has been under attack by the former administration and the SEC under Gensler. The agency has filed numerous lawsuits against crypto companies, including Ripple, alleging that their native tokens are unregistered securities.

However, Gensler and the SEC failed to specify the exact nature of crypto tokens and why they should be considered securities. There has been no regulatory clarity under the SEC’s current oversight, leading many industry experts to question the agency’s actions and motives.

However, the situation now looks very different, Garlinghouse added, given that the so-called war on crypto is likely to end under the Trump administration, and especially with Gensler’s expected departure from the SEC.

“Since Election Day, the best-performing crypto assets have been all American companies or American technologies. That should not be a surprise. The SEC has been manipulating and pressuring these American companies and American technologies, and now that pressure is coming off, they’re soaring,” he noted.

In the wake of Cardano’s Charles Hoskinson, rumors have begun to circulate that Garlinghouse has also met with Trump or some of his future representatives about his potential involvement in setting crypto policy in the U.S. During his appearance on Fox News, he was asked if there was any basis for these speculations.

While he did not confirm this for sure, his answer only fueled the rumors about this meeting.
